The following is a communication to everyone that worked at the following
mentioned company, including the owner. It had a very positive effect and
began a turn around of the company, though nothing came easy. The most
difficult thing to do was to get people to listen. Unfortunatly, there
were a few whom just didn't get it. Although I didn't think I would get
the job but at best locate a video production house we might work with in
dealing with the exhibit business, I answered an ad for a "lightwave power
user". I had been very busy at the exhibit house, much more so than
everyone else, because I would get in there and get the job done. My
income would have doubled from my best year had I stayed. And this while
other were having their hours cut to part time.
I didn't have time to discuss, with the owner, about the ad I answered but
when I returned he was upset with me and there was a parting. I got the
lightwave job and went to work as the graphics and animation person at a
small video production house where I did more of everything else,
including cold call sales, than lightwave. Months later the owner called
me and let me know they had gone out of business, assets absorbed by the
company whom took a whole crew away from them. I like to think I am
friends with the former owner of the mentioned company.
At the video production house I found myself dealing with the frustration
of having most all my efforts to accomplish something undermined. I left
and went to work on the V.I.C. Being distracted only once to help a
another tradeshow company out of a bind. A company I had only interviewed
with years before and as the push came to a close I asked how much longer
they would need me. The responce was that they had no problem with me
staying. This was the best pay I've ever earned, but left to work on the
V.I.C.
========================================================================
The message given to all at the company mentioned in the above first
paragraph:
------------
Productive business is an abstract concept created, operated,
controlled and evolved by man. With the sole objective of improving the
quality of life for those involved. The quality of life in both the
physical reality of the environment one lives and works in, and the
psychological reality of how one feels about their personal worth.
Self-esteem and pride are among the many facets of personal
psychological worth. Both physical and psychological reality contain a
common element. That element, the fact, is that we are all in this
together.
Business, as the abstract concept it is, only works to the degree
of understanding those involved have of this sole objective of
productive business.
The abstract concept of a business named Display Plus, no longer
exist, except in history. From the employee copy of the book of
information, policies, and benefits of this historic only company, is
the following first paragraph.
"Our company, formed in 1987, strives to provide the highest
quality products and services for our clients. We will succeed in this
effort if every individual will work towards our main objective-- "a
satisfied customer."
I will get back to this paragraph in a moment.
Display Plus developed a reputation. I have heard the opinions from
and of former employees over the years, though mostly over this last
year with my employ at TMI (the crew that left?). This reputation or
collection of opinions was telling me to stay away from this company.
However, Display Plus changed it's name and I answered an ad. A
warning flag went up during my interview when I realized the company
had been under the name of Display Plus. But I have been put into such
situations, in my life, to know better than to believe the opinions of
others. To recognize what is likley an opinion and what is likley
verifiable fact. That the only way to really know the difference is to
find out for myself, following objective non-mystical reality. To
gather the facts, while also understanding people make mistakes in what
they may think. Often influenced by their emotions.
To sum up the reputation/opinions being communicated and the
factual/verifiable foundation for this reputation is to simply say
that the history of the company "Display Plus" was that of having a
high and unusual employee turn-over rate.
Employees come in and go out of the back door. Clients come in and
go out of the front door. Although I do not know of the opinions of
former Clients, I have become aware of enough facets of the on-going
business happenings, to know it is not the best that it can be.
However, I have also been able to determine, with absolute
certainty, everyone at Concept Productions honestly wants the business
to improve in all of it's facets. I can shake or scratch my head in
wonderment or realize there is an answer to the "why this is not
happening?" question. But the question must be asked of everyone.
There is no one person that can fully answer this question, simply
due the fact there is no one person completely involved in all the
facets AND the "doing" details of the facets, of this business. As
such, it is understandable there exist more "opinions" than fully
integrated facts, being communicated. Opinions do not contribute to a
valid answer! Nor is the answer just the factual identification and
communication of the why, for this alone may, and will likley, distract
from doing the solution. The answer includes correction, the doing.
Back to the above mentioned paragraph.
"Our company, formed in 1987, strives to provide the highest
quality products and services for our clients. We will succeed in this
effort if every individual will work towards our main objective-- "a
satisfied customer."
Perhaps it's time to draw a well defined line between what was
(a company named Display Plus), what is (a company named Concept
Productions in name only but following the book of Display Plus) and
what can be (a company not only named Concept Productions but is, in
every facet, "concept productions").
What might be the first paragraph, in the book of Concept
Productions's employee manual of "concept production methods":
"Our company strives to provide the highest quality products and
services for our clients. Just as we expect, as the customers we
ultimatly are of clients and potential clients, the highest quality of
products and services from them. Our main objective "a satisfied
customer" applies not only to the satisfaction we give our clients, but
to ourselves as well. The satisfaction we receive is dependant on our
understanding and teamwork application of the basic objective of
productive business, "To Improve Our Quality Of Life."
The name "Concept Productions", the logo and the human figure that
represent the company, together promote the very correct human ability
and doing skill, to improve our quality of life.
The equation T1(I°+E°)=vT2(k) is the proof. An equation by Spinoza
and further detailed by Di Silvestro. Einstein identified that energy
and matter are one and the same: E=Mc². But Einstein fell short of
identifying the controlling element, perhaps he was just to close to it,
to see it.
T1(I°+E°)=vT2(k)
T1 = Nonmystical thought. (Opinions don't fit here)
I° = Degree of intent.
E° = Degree of effort.
v = velocity of converting T1 to T2
T2 = Physical reality
k = The universal constant (yet to be identified?)
The controlling element, is of course, the human conscious ability
to comprehend physical reality (reverse the equation) and develope
concepts workable within physical reality. Doing so to control
and/or create things within physical reality. But it all starts with
nonmystical yet abstract conscious thought, "Concepts."
To dispell any doubts of this equation, the controlling element,
take a look around and ask yourself "what do I (you) see and know
with certainty, that did not originate from some conscious thought
of a concept or two?"
The concept of productive business only exist as well the
understanding of, and applied efforts to do, the sole objective of the
concept. "To Improve Our Quality Of Life."
In order to do this objective there must exist competition!
Something to compare with and improve upon. And the motive or incentive
to do so. And of this, there is much to compare with and improve within
our company. Comparison of the internal history and knowledge of
Display Plus, to the knowledge of other companies operations, both in
direct competition with Concept Productions and as clients or potential
clients of ours.
Perhaps a basic goal or focus of Concept Productions, one that
inherently contains the element of growth, should be:
"To always have waiting at the front door, potential clients
wanting in. And at the back door, potential employees/team-members
wanting in. With the important and never forgotten understanding:
those waiting are doing so because they know we will not let them in
until we are ready to do them right. As well as us knowing they will
do us right in return."
Impossible? Not at all!
Imagine for a moment what it would be like, the benefits to all
involved. From the client perspective, from the salesperson
perspective, from the owner perspective as well as the employee
perspective. Not to forget the potential client and employee
perspective (those waiting to get in). Imagine what physical actions
and communications you would be doing on a daily, weekly, monthly
basis. Regardless of your current position and duties, do this NOW!
DO NOT CONTINUE READING THIS UNTIL YOU DO THIS!!! Visualize it NOW!
************************************************
Now realize you have just taken the first step. You have
participated in an abstract Concept. The next step is, of course,
putting it into concrete Productions. That's Productions with an `s'!
"An exceptional company composed of exceptional people producing
an exceptional quality of products and services. The people whom
deserve and receive exceptional benefits from their exceptional
training, teamwork, and company benefits."
Is it time to get depressed with the next question? The question
of "how?" No, not at all! An exceptional company requires exceptional
people. To become or be an exceptional person require exceptional
thinking. Know that getting depressed over such a question as "how?"
is common place and easy to do. Perhaps past experience helps in being
common place. Dump common place and that which is common place!
Take your list of doubts, gripes, reasons why you can't and let it
go. Now pick up a new list, one that has limited space for such common
place barriers but unlimited space for certainties, solutions, and
reasons why you can. Start filling it out, and never stop. As you fill
up the space for doubts, gripes and reasons why you cannot, you will
find you must start filling out the space for certainties, solutions and
reasons why you can. In doing this you will find in you list of
certainties, solutions and reasons why you can, that which contridicts
and eliminates what you have put into the limited space of doubts,
gripes, and reasons why you cannot. You see, you really have all the
room you will ever need for your doubts, gripes and reasons why you
cannot, so long as you add to the space for certainties, solutions and
reasons why you can.
Is this a motivational trick? Absolutly not! Everyone of us have
done something in life because we believed we could. Large or small,
weither or not you stopped to think about it, you have done alot more
than one thing and continue to do so. Or else your dead and don't
have the ability to believe you can read this. No, there is no
motivational trick here. In fact, if you are getting emotionally
excited about the possibilities, you are jumping the gun, counting
your chickens before they hatch, and you are setting yourself up for
a fall. Non-mystical thought is honest about when it is time for
excitement, and that is when you have "done it", not before! But it's
even better to continue doing it.
What exactly is "IT"? It is being an exceptional person doing
exceptional things, and receiving exceptional benefits for it. In a
word "CLICK." It is defined in the dictionary! Through the agreed upon
definition and application of words, symbols, sounds and actions, we
create and do things in teamwork.
The secret of the "click" is in knowing why it happens well enough
to make it happen intentionally and consistantly, rather than not
identifying it when it happens or believing it to happen at random. And
it is extreamly easy, when all team members understand/know it, to make
it happen intentionally and consistantly.
There is a very real, yet simply, process/cycle of both mental and
physical actions, that allow one to evolve into an exceptional person
doing exceptional things while receiving exceptional benefits for it.
But as simple as it is, it takes action to do it. However, when done
long enough, it becomes second nature, it becomes habit. It starts
with the list and space available for each part, the continious act
of filling it in. Most only have a list for doubts, gripes, and
reasons why they cannot. And to top it off, it's not written down. So
in the simplest way, the simplest physical effort, is to write it down.
The mental effort is a bit more difficult, to think of enough
certainties, solutions and reasons why you can, to keep space open for
you to write down the doubts, gripes, and reasons why you cannot.
But this is not all there is to it. Yep, there is more, but if
you cannot do this much then you'll not recognize the value of the
next part and will only find reasons why it won't work. Rather than
proving to yourself that it does work. Ultimately you are the only
one you need to prove anything to. Others doing this will simply know,
when they see you doing this, that you either know or are on your way
to know. That your part of the team of exceptional people doing
exceptional things in order to receive exceptional benefits.
=======================================================================
The following was never presented to the company, though some saw it.
It was one of two attempts to write such a proposal. It contains the
valuable perspective on what a successful business transaction is. And
what it is not.

About the Contents of the Manual
The objective of this manual is to identify, document, and
communicate the successful process of moving abstract concepts into
concrete physical reality. But it is, inherently, much more than just
this, as you will come to understand. It is a blueprint for reaching
the objective of productive business "Improving Our Quality Of Life"
It is through evolution, time and the feedback loop, that things
develop into a reality. This manual is no different. This manual is
open to all interested, within the company, whom wish to learn of and
put into application it's contents. But the open nature of this manual
does not stop here. This manual is open for corrections, additions,
re-writes for better communication, etc.. But to keep it's evolution
clearly directed towards the objective of being a blueprint to improve
our quality of life, the guidelines are:
* Any correction(s) must have the error(s) clearly identified
* Any additions must not contridict but rather support, if not
also amplify, the existing contents
* Any type of change will not happen if the change distracts
from the blueprint objective
* ........ Open for suggestions here ........
With these guidelines in mind, anyone may present potential
corrections, additions, re-write perspectives etc.. for consideration.
Team-work and feedback are important, for many reasons. So know all
that is presented for consideration, is received with the perspective
of being a honest effort to contribute and increase the positive and
productive values communicated thru-out the manual.

Identification of primary constants:
------------------------------------
*** The Constant of Three Perspectives:
There is always three (3) perspectives to see from and consider.
+ The perspective of the Individual.
+ The perspective of the Group.
+ The perspective of the World.
To properly understand these perspectives, consider them as
concepts that define "Relationships."
The Concept of the Individual - In it's simplest to understand
form, is an individual person. But it can also be used to identify
a single unit of defined property. The relationship is that it is
a single unit from a group of units, each containing the same
defined property. But the relationship also identifies the unit
as having unique properties not found in the group. The concept
of the individual represents "one."
The Concept of the Group - In it's simplest to understand form, is
the collection of individuals having one or more things in common.
An example of this might be the "group" of a family, "group" of
a department, "group" of a country, etc.. But what it represents
is the concept of more than one, but not all.
The Concept of the World - In it's simplest to understand form, is
that of the physical planet Earth and all of it's contents. But
this "world" concept is used to describe things that may also be
described in terms of "group" and even "individual". Consider the
phrase "The World of Electronics" or "Waynes World". What the
concept of "World" represents is the concept of "everything within
these -given- limit(s)"
So:
The Individual - one.
The Group - more than one but not all.
The World - all (within given limits.)
What is IMPORTANT here, is that there is always three perspectives
to see from and consider.
*** The Constant of Business, an abstract concept and tool.
Productive business is an abstract concept created, operated,
controlled and evolved by man. With the objective of improving the
quality of life for those involved. The quality of life in both the
physical reality of the environment one lives and works in, and the
psychological reality of how one feels about their personal worth.
Self-esteem and pride are among the many facets of personal
psychological worth. Both physical and psychological reality contain a
common element. That element, the fact, is that we are all in this
world together.
Business, as the abstract concept it is, only works to the degree
of understanding those involved have, of it's objective to improve
the quality of life, those involved, live in.
The abstract concept of productive business is a tool man created,
developed, and uses, so to give structure (map), sequence (direction
and movement), and measurement (value and feedback) to what and how
well man alters or changes what exist in physical reality. To improve
the quality of our physical lives.
Contained in the abstract concept of business are many other
abstract concepts. In physical reality, even the concept of money does
not exist, but it does exist as an abstract concept. It only works to
degree of our agreed definition and use of it. The physical existance
of what we call money, is nothing more than a physical symbol of value
that we have agreed on and use as an exchange media. But it's not the
only media being used.
Imagine the concept of containing an exchangable value in a small
group of atoms (much smaller than the human eye can see). A value that
is defined by the polarity of individual atoms in the group, positive or
negitive. In addition to this, during an exchange of value, only a few
electrons (smaller than an atom) move, and only a very small distance.
Yet a value defined in terms of the abstract concept of money has moved
from NewYork to Australia in a very small fraction of a second. Did
the electrons move from NewYork to Australia? No! Only the abstract
concept of value did.
Yes, beyond any doubt, Business is an abstract concept. It is a
tool we use to produce or increase the value or quality of physical
life.
NOTE: Here is a good place to recall the Image and Meaning of Our
Company Name "Concept Productions", as well as the objective
of creating this manual.
*** The Ultimate Constant - the Existance of the Changing Variable!
Man is a creature of habit - this is a constant. Basic examples
of this is: we all do sleep, eat, sh*t, move, etc.. Ok, so maybe
these are not habits but qualities of being human. But these qualities
do set the foundation for being a creature of habit. Like in when you
do these things.
Man is motivated by the physical world of survival - this is also
a constant. We do not live forever and can die at any time for any
number of reasons. But we do put forth some degree of effort to increase
the odds of not dying, in doing things we believe will increase the odds
of not dying.
Man is inspired by the abstract world of concepts - This is the
ultimate constant of "the Existance of the Changing Variable". In
simple terms: "Man is inspired by abstract concepts. Abstract concepts
do change."
Unlike most other, or recognized, life forms, man alters physical
reality thru the use of abstract concept tools. Using such tools, man
has the ability to alter physical reality to a much greater extent
than most other, or recognized, life forms. And to do so, alter
physical reality, at an ever increasing rate. Yet man has not evolved
in his physical abilities much more than the physical abilities he
had over two thousand years ago. Proof that abstract concepts work!
In the physical world, the only thing changing is the speed of
change and the "what into what." But again, man has not improved or
increased the speed of his individual physical movements. Mans
physical abilities and speed of movement is, beyond doubt, a constant.
A constant that can be measured and relied upon, in the physical
production of abstract concepts.
HOWEVER, something must be changing in order for man to achieve
increased power and speed of changing physical reality. There is no
mystery or magic here! Man simply changes what he does with his
physical movements and within the limitations of his physical
abilities. And all these changes are a direct result of, that's right,
abstract concepts.
Pinned down: Abstract Concepts are the constant of: The existance
of the changing variable.
*** One last Primary Constant (sort of):
In theory: If you mix equal amounts of the three primary colors
you will get either black (pure darkness or absence of color) or white
(pure light or presence of all color), depending on the media of color
(substractive color media or additive color media). However in reality
this does not happen and you end up with something else, usually not
very attractive. Yet, black is used to add shadow or shade and white is
used to add highlight or tint. And it is through a good mix and right
application that we have much that is attractive, different, and
inspiring.
With this in mind, the forth primary constant is that of Gravity.
- In physical reality, gravity is the weakest of the four primary
forces in nature, but required for anything at all to exist in
physical reality.
- In the reality of abstract concepts (as made clear above),
gravity is the strongest force. That is, the weight, or power,
of man defining, agreeing upon, and using abstract concepts
to determine the movement of his limited physical actions.
Abstract concepts, the gravity of, is also required but only
for better controlling of what all exist in physical reality.
MIXING THE PRIMARY CONSTANTS:
Just as there is a difference between the theory and application
of color mixing, there is a difference between the theory and
application of mixing physical reality with the use of abstract
concept tools. However: just as the difference has been identified,
documented and communicated, to allow for color mixing success; so can
the differences be identified, documented and communicated to allow
for successful mixing of physical reality with abstract concepts. In
fact, doing so is an act of identifying physical reality correctly, as
well as correctly identifying the abstract concepts in use.
As and Example:
The basic correct mix of the constants covered here.
As the individual physical beings we are, we cannot completely
see from the perspective of the group and even less from the
perspective of the world. Not to forget the perspective of another
individual. With this and in condsideration of physical reality: The
objective of productive business, improve our quality of life, applies
in the most direct physical form, to each of us and from our own
individual perspective of ourselves. Also, as individuals, we are in
the most direct control of our own actions, individual physical
movement and choice of abstract concept tools we use in movement.
Keeping aligned with the objective of productive business, the
abstract concept tool we use for improving our quality of life: We
know as individuals, not to include in our physical actions anything
that will hurt the group, the world, or another individual. But to
include, where we can, physical movement that helps the group, the
world, and other individuals. In addition, as individuals, we find
or create and use better abstract concepts for ourselves, the group,
the world and other individuals. While keeping a proper balance
between use, communication of abstract concepts, and physical
movements. Understanding the limitations of our individual abilities
to not completely see from anothers perspective, we know that the
abstract concept tools we use may not be the best for another.
Ultimately, each one of us, as unique individuals, has variations
of what we value and how we value, in both physical reality and the
reality of abstract concepts. As such, we have a uniqueness to
contribute to the group and world, making the world a very colorful
and inspiring place. Yet, we also have enough in common to agree on
and use abstract concepts in the group and world, to meet the
objective of productive business "To Improve Our Quality of Life".
*** Value Exchange
(not a constant but the fundamental abstract concept of business)
Of the commonly agreed upon abstract concepts in productive
business, the most fundamental abstract concept is that of "value
exchange." Physical reality may or may not be part of a successful
exchange of value. But most often there is percentage of both the
physical and the abstract involved in an exchange of value. Consider
the exchange of value that takes place when going to the movie
theater. Consider the exchange of value that takes place in buying
a car.
Three basic types of successful value exchange can happen. One is
that of receiving a value in exchange for a value. The second is in
receiving a value that will be used to build something of greater
value, in exchange for a value given and regardless of how value
given will be used. The third is in receiving a value that will be
used to build something of greater value, in exchange for a value
that will also be used to build something of greater value. This third
does take into account or consideration what is to be built of greater
value on both sides. An example of this is the stock market. All three
may contain various percentages of the physical and the abstract.
The un-successful exchange of value is that of not receiving or
giving what is agreed upon and expected. Usually caused by being lead,
or leading another into an exchange of value in error, either
intentionally or untentionally. Understanding becomes important and
requires communication and feedback to verify and avoid the
un-successful exchange of value. This can become expensive for the
parties involved when understanding is not reached. There must be
another way. A way that generates certainty of a successful exchange
of value. One such way is that of a money back garantee. Another is
that of a conditional value exchange. Etc..
But ultimately, it comes down to clear and accurate understanding
of both "physical reality and the abstract concepts of the value
exchange" and "the accurate and honest use of the abstract concepts
used to communicate the potential value exchange."
